The Business Case

“Some of the effects of mental ill health can have major implications at the organisational level. For some workers the effects of anxiety, depression or stress may translate into poor performance. An effective line manager should identify, intervene and provide support at an early stage. If significant numbers or workers are experiencing the effects of stress in the work context the problem may become a major organisational one, manifested in the symptoms of organisational stress such as absenteeism, impaired productivity, and an increase in labour turnover and customer complaints (Jones et al 1988). Thus, individual well-being is essential to the success of the organisation.”
